A Google Business Profile Checklist for Pakistani Businesses

Every field, category, service and photo worth setting up, in order.

Published 2026-09-02 · 8 min read

Type the exact shop name of a garments wholesaler in Jodia Bazaar and he sits at number one. Same story for a dental clinic in PECHS. But swap that for a "near me" search on somebody's phone and both of them vanish. That gap burns money daily, which is why this Google Business Profile checklist for Pakistani businesses exists in the first place.

Most owners do the bare minimum. Claim it, punch in a phone number, forget about it. One category, no service areas, four grainy photos from 2021, and a review tab nobody's opened since last winter. Google looks at all that and reads "dead business", then hands the map pack to whoever's still breathing.

Karachi SMEs, clinics, academies, industrial suppliers, we're in map pack work with these people every day, and we measure it with geo grid scans instead of hunches. What follows is the actual list we work from. Sit down and knock it out in one go, then repeat the trimmed version each month. Would rather someone else handled it? Why Google Business Profile Decides Who Gets the Call in Pakistan

Karachi searches happen on phones, in two languages at once. Half English, half Urdu, "near me" tacked on the end, then a tap on whatever's sitting in that map box up top. Three listings fit there. Everybody else scraps over leftovers.

WhatsApp tightens the screws further. Forms? Buyers here barely touch them. They tap call or they tap chat, so your profile needs a click to chat route that genuinely works on mobile.

Before anyone calls, they scan four things in about six seconds:

  • Distance: how far you are from their current location
  • Review score and count: 4.6 with 80 reviews beats 5.0 with three
  • Photos: does the place look real and open
  • Opening hours: "Open now" or "Closes soon" changes the decision instantly

The Full Google Business Profile Checklist for Pakistani Businesses

Follow the order below. Every step leans on the one before it, and jumping ahead is exactly how profiles get suspended.

Step One, Verify the Listing and Lock the Business Name

  1. Claim the listing at Google Business Profile using a business email, not a personal Gmail that a former employee controls.
  2. Verify by video call or postcard. Video is faster in Pakistan. Keep signage, the premises exterior and a utility bill ready before you start recording.
  3. Search your brand name and address for duplicate listings created by staff or customers. Report and merge them.
  4. Set the business name exactly as it appears on your signage and paperwork.

Owners underestimate that last one badly. Calling yourself "Best Marketing Agency Karachi Cheap SEO" feels like a clever hack for maybe seven days, then some rival reports it and your profile's gone. Getting reinstated eats weeks you can't spare.

Got branches in Saddar and DHA both? Every physical spot needs its own profile, own address, own number, own hours. A single listing won't stretch across the whole city.

Step Two, Choose the Right Primary and Secondary Categories

Most of the ranking weight sits in that primary category. Secondaries pull in related searches without watering down the main signal. Choose what you genuinely are today, not the business you're dreaming about for next year.

Business typeRecommended primary categoryUseful secondary categories
Dental clinic, Gulshan e IqbalDentistDental clinic, Cosmetic dentist, Orthodontist
Tuition academy, North NazimabadTutoring serviceCoaching centre, Educational institution, Test preparation centre
Garments wholesaler, Jodia BazaarClothing wholesalerFabric wholesaler, Wholesale market, Textile exporter
Property agency, DHAReal estate agencyProperty management company, Real estate consultant

Go look at what the top three map results in your neighbourhood are using. Google's handing you the competitive benchmark for nothing.

Step Three, Set Address or Service Area Correctly

Roughly half the Karachi businesses we audit get this wrong. Customers coming to you? Publish the full address and drag that pin onto your actual door, not the main road out front.

Travelling out to clients instead? Hide the address, list service areas. A plumber or an IT support outfit should name the places they actually cover: Clifton, DHA Phases 1 to 8, PECHS, Bahadurabad, Gulshan e Iqbal.

  • Listing all of Sindh helps nobody. Fuzzy coverage kills your local relevance.
  • Keep it to 15 or 20 areas you honestly serve.
  • Fake address to look local? One competitor report and you're suspended.

Step Four, Complete Hours, Contact and Attributes

Half finished profiles sit below finished ones. Fill in every single field Google gives you.

  • Hours: real opening times, including Friday prayer breaks if you close for them
  • Special hours: Ramadan timings, Eid holidays, Muharram closures, set in advance
  • Phone: the number a human answers, ideally the same one on your website and invoices
  • Website: link the relevant page, so a clinic links its treatments page, not just the homepage
  • Attributes: wheelchair access, parking, women owned, cash or card, home delivery

Step Five, Load Photos That Prove You Are Real

Stock images destroy trust instantly. Karachi buyers want the shop front, the workshop floor, the clinic reception, the faces of your staff.

  1. Upload a logo and a wide cover photo that shows your premises.
  2. Add exterior shots taken from the street, so people recognise the building on arrival.
  3. Add interior shots, product shots and at least two photos of staff at work.
  4. Post three to five fresh photos every month. Activity signals a live business.

Phone camera, daylight, done. Clear beats polished every time.

Step Six, Build a Review Engine, Not a Review Request

Across North Nazimabad and Federal B Area, reviews shape the shortlist harder than anything else we track. Volume counts, recency counts, and so do your replies.

  • Save your Google review short link and send it over WhatsApp within an hour of the job finishing
  • Ask in the customer's language. Urdu requests get better response rates from older buyers
  • Reply to every review inside 48 hours, positive or negative, using calm and specific language
  • Never buy reviews. Google filters them and the drop looks worse than having none

Step Seven, Use Posts, Products, Services and Messaging

Nearly every Pakistani profile leaves these sections blank, which hands you an easy edge.

  • Services: list each service with a short description containing the words customers search
  • Products: useful for retail and wholesale, with PKR pricing where you publish it
  • Posts: one weekly update on offers, new stock, seasonal timings or completed work
  • Messaging: switch it on only if someone monitors it daily. Slow replies damage ranking and reputation
  • Q and A: post your own five most asked questions and answer them yourself

Monthly Upkeep: The Short Version of the Checklist

Setup takes an afternoon. Rankings come from doing it again and again. Here's the monthly loop running on our client profiles:

  1. Check for suggested edits Google or the public has applied, and revert wrong ones
  2. Add three to five photos
  3. Publish four posts
  4. Request reviews from every completed job
  5. Reply to all reviews and questions
  6. Log calls, direction requests and website clicks from the performance tab

What Results Look Like and How Long They Take

Straight answer: nobody can promise you a map pack slot, and any agency that does is selling fiction. Movement is what we see, consistently. Not magic.

TimeframeWhat typically changes
Weeks 1 to 4Profile completion, photo and category fixes, first review flow
Months 2 to 3Wider geo grid visibility, more calls and direction requests
Months 4 to 6Steadier map pack presence for near me and area based searches

Somewhere packed like Tariq Road shifts slower than Korangi or Port Qasim, where far fewer suppliers are doing this properly. Ongoing local SEO in Karachi generally starts around PKR 60,000 a month on retainer, with one off profile optimisation jobs sitting at the cheaper end. All the numbers live on our pricing page, and everything we cover is laid out across our services page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does Google Business Profile verification take in Pakistan?

Video reviews usually come back within a few days. Postcards can crawl for two to four weeks before landing at a Karachi address. Have your signage and a utility bill sitting ready so you don't get stuck doing it twice.

Can a home based business use this Google Business Profile checklist for Pakistani businesses?

Absolutely. Hide the home address, set service areas instead. Categories, photos, reviews, posts, all the rest works identically.

Why is my profile not showing in the map pack?

Usual suspects: a weak primary category, an unverified or duplicated listing, thin recent reviews, or you're simply too far from whoever's searching. Geo grid tracking tells you whether you rank right outside your door but fade a couple of kilometres away.

Should I add keywords to my business name?

Don't. Google counts it as a guideline breach, and rivals report it constantly. Suspension wipes out more visibility than those keywords ever brought in.

How many reviews do I need to compete in Karachi?

Depends entirely on your area. Pull up the top three listings for your main search term, then work towards matching their count inside six months, replying to each one as it lands.

Can I add WhatsApp to my Google Business Profile?

There's no native field for it, but your website link or appointment link can point straight at a click to chat URL. Karachi enquiries usually close quicker that way.
